At 54, Halle Berry is arguably in the best shape of her life. From cardio to strength training to yoga, the actress loves to switch up her routine. But ahead of the long weekend, she amped up the intensity of her workout with the help of a special guest: her six-year-old son!

On Friday, Berry posted a video of herself perfecting the ever-challenging sumo squat. Instead of using a typical dumbbell or kettlebell, she simply used her son Maceo as a human weight.

Holding her son with both arms, Berry kept her feet pointed outward and at an angle before sinking deep into the squat. She then slowly pushes back to a standing position.

Not only will squats target the muscles in your glutes, quads, and inner thighs, but the exercise also works the core. (Making it a perfect move to add to your at-home workout set!)

The mom of two posted the video on Instagram as part of her Fitness Friday series where she motivates fans to get active. This time, she explained in the caption why she decided to incorporate Maceo into her workout ahead of the long weekend.

“Happy #FitnessFriday! With all the chaos that comes with virtual online learning, it can be difficult for little kids to stay energized and engaged. So today, I thought I would throw my son Maceo into my workout! Fun for him and *necessary* for me!”

When Berry isn’t working out with her son, she’s busting a sweat with celebrity trainer Peter Lee Thomas. He previously told Prevention.com that he has “never met someone who’s as dedicated as Halle.”

Thomas worked with Berry for her role as Sofia, a trained fighter, in John Wick 4, which is set to premiere next summer. “All of our training has lead up to where she is now with the demands of her character,” he said. “I just felt like we were preparing her for the biggest fight of her life.”

Of course, Thomas approves of her genius “kiddie workout.” He commented on her photo with three simple emojis that we can all get behind: “??????????.”

If you don’t have a young child running around, no worries. You can still work your way to a toned lower bod with the help of a large dumbbell, kettlebell, or even a 1-gallon bottle of water. Whatever gets you moving!
