Watch: Kai Lenny Foils From Maui to Moloka'i

Kai Lenny is at it again.

Foiling in ways most of us would never dream of.

Last weekend, the waterman completed the 27-mile Maui to Moloka'i Challenge on a foil board with a paddle in hand and won fifth place.

Lenny captioned the clip above:

"It had been 4 years since I’ve competed in the @molokaiholokai or any channel crossing for that matter. The last time I did it there was maybe 5 people foiling, this year there was well over 50 foilers! So stoked to see how far the sport has come. The level has reached insane speeds. I was 4 minutes off the win and ended up 5th place, but surprisingly it was the best thing that could’ve happened leading up to @molokai2oahu race at the end of this month. A few design changes here and there and I should be in the mix next race. Congrats to @kdmaui for taking the win and @annie__starr for taking out the women’s division. Also everyone that participated, just finishing a channel crossing is an achievement!"

The Maui to Moloka'i Challenge has been running since 2003. It is part of the Moloka'i Holokai, a two-day event that brings paddlers and water people of all kinds to the island of Moloka'i to celebrate Hawaiian culture and ocean awareness.

Naturally, Lenny's followers got the conversation going in the comments:

"How big are those open ocean swells?" asked one follower.

"this day, probably 6 foot, on the right day 15 feet," Lenny replied.

Other comments include:

"four foot Hawai’ian, 28 foot Santa Cruz ??????"

"Respect to all that crossed."

"Incredible turn out."

"Sensational"

"Go get um Kai, my ?? on you!"
