Watch Kai Lenny Kitesurf and Shortboard a Super Windy Surf Spot on Maui

Maui big wave surfer and all-around waterman Kai Lenny is back in action.

In early January, he suffered a concussion after wiping out and cracking his helmet like an egg on the opening day of Da Hui's Backdoor Shootout.

Strangely enough, Lenny, who's a tried and true regular footer, has been surfing switch stance as a goofy footer. In the video below, he reminds us he can do anything in the ocean, and kitesurfs switch stance before ripping a shortboard too.

Lenny captioned his latest YouTube release above:

"Trying to Kitesurf Gusty 50 knot Winds at Lanes, Ho'okipa

"The winds were gusting 10 to 50 knots at Lanes and made Kitesurfing challenging but really rewarding when I could actually link a turn.

"When the wind backed off just enough I was able to catch a few waves surfing."

The video above is around two minutes of Lenny shredding in super-windy surf on his home island of Maui. It's dialogue-free, just pure surfing.

This is the second time in two days we've seen pros stoked on choppy surf.

Yesterday, the North Shore's John John Florence dropped a new edit on his YouTube channel called AIR WIND, featuring him and a handful of other pros surfing the North Shore on a beautifully windy day.

Around halfway through the edit, Florence says:

"It's cool to see how everyone's approach changes with the air wind. There's not as much ability to predict what each wave will do, so it kind of forces you to surf more on instant and be reactive to the different sections that pop up.

"Maybe all wind is good wind?"

Judging from Lenny and Florence both, it looks like it.
