The 12th season of Ryan Murphy’s blockbuster horror series American Horror Story is a departure for the show in a couple of ways. It’s the first AHS season to be based on source material,  specifically the 2023 thriller Delicate Condition, by Danielle Valentine, which was billed as a feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby. It’s also the first AHS season to be written by a single writer, playwright and actress Halley Feller. The casting of Kim Kardashian in a central role brought even more buzz to AHS: Delicate, which aired the first five episodes of its two-part season back in September.

After an agonizing wait, Part 2 is finally about to debut. Here’s what we know about the five episodes to come, including the release date, cast, and what will happen.

What happened in AHS: Delicate Part 1?

American Horror Story: Delicate centers on a young actress, Anna (Emma Roberts), who’s working hard to balance her burgeoning Hollywood career with her desire to start a family. After years of thankless work on a network TV show, Anna gets her big break when an indie horror movie she starred in, The Auteur, debuts to huge critical success and awards buzz.

At the same time, Anna and her husband are overjoyed when they’re finally able to conceive using IVF, but she becomes increasingly convinced that someone is stalking her and trying to sabotage her pregnancy. Her anxiety is made worse by the fact that nobody around her seems to be listening to her—not her husband, Dex (Matt Czuchry), her fertility doctor (Dennis O’Hare) or her publicist Siobhan (Kim Kardashian), all of whom are too focused on their own agendas to pay much attention to her very justified fears. After she miscarries one of her embryos, her mental and physical health begin to deteriorate, and she begins to experience memory loss, debilitating pain and the odd Satanic hallucination—all while trying to hold it together for her Oscar campaign.

Where did AHS: Delicate leave off?

Part 1 of Delicate wrapped up with the season’s fifth episode, which jumped back in time to the 1980s to fill in the backstory of Ms. Preecher (Julie White), a mysterious woman who’s made multiple attempts to warn Anna that there’s something extremely sinister going on with her pregnancy. In 1987, Ms. Preacher gave birth to a demonic child after making a deal with the devil. Though she’d tried desperately to back out of the deal after realizing what it would cost her, she’d been forced to go through with the pregnancy. Although Anna hasn’t (knowingly) made any such deal, her husband Dex is revealed to have links to the same Satanic cult which oversaw Ms. Preecher’s cursed pregnancy—and she and Preacher share the same fertility doctor, Dr. Hill.

Meanwhile, Anna is devastated after she loses out on a Golden Globe award which goes to her rival, a significantly younger actress named Babette (Taylor Richardson). After this blow, her publicist Siobhan calls her up to ask her a loaded pair of questions: “Do you want an Oscar? Do you want it as much as a baby?” When Anna confirms that she does, she agrees to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. After an ominous cut to black, Anna wakes up the next morning to discover that Babette has been killed (and decapitated) in a freak accident, clearing her path to stardom.

Who is cast in AHS: Delicate Part 2?

Emma Roberts

Roberts, who is returning here for her sixth AHS season, will star as protagonist Anna Victoria Alcott, an ambitious actress struggling to conceive through IVF.

Kim Kardashian

The news of Kardashian’s casting made a huge impact back when AHS Season 12 was announced. She’ll return in Part 2 as Siobbhan, Anna’s ruthless publicist who is gradually revealed to be (potentially) the villain of the entire piece.

Matt Czuchry

Czuchry, who’s known for his roles on Gilmore Girls and The Resident, plays Anna’s husband Dex, who has some murky ties to the Satanic cult and shows a total lack of concern for his wife’s anxieties.

Denis O'Hare

O’Hare plays fertility doctor Dr. Hill, who is revealed to be the one concrete link between Anna’s pregnancy and Ms. Preecher’s,

Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd

Grossman and Lourd will return as The Ashleys, a pair of crisis PR managers who are brought in to do damage control on Anna’s reputation—and who just happen to be part of a centuries-old Satanic cult with links all the way back to Queen Mary I.

Annabelle Dexter-Jones

Dexter-Jones plays Sonia, a colleague of Dex’s who bears a striking resemblance to his late wife, Adeline.

Cara Delevingne as Ivy Ehrenreich

Delevingne will return to play a mysterious character named Ivy, who is introduced as a nurse at the hospital where Anna is receiving her fertility treatments. This soon turns out to be a ruse, and Anna becomes convinced that Ivy is stalking her.

AHS: Delicate Part 2 will premiere with the season’s sixth episode on Wednesday, April 3 on FX.

What will happen in AHS: Delicate Part 2?

Unsurprisingly given how secretive the AHS franchise tends to be, plot details have been kept mostly under wraps. But the Part 2 trailer included some stomach-churning shots of Anna snacking on bones and hallucinating a colony of spiders crawling out of her stomach, so it’s safe to bet that her pregnancy will continue to be a very chill and normal affair. Part 2 also looks set to focus more on the complicated relationship between Anna and her publicist/“best friend” Siobhan, who are shown both making out and coming to blows in the trailer.

Is there a trailer for AHS: Delicate Part 2?

FX released the official trailer for AHS: Delicate Part Two on March 20, offering a chilling glimpse of the bloody gore and psychological carnage to come.

“I’m going to give you the life of your dreams,” Siobhan promises Anna in the footage. “What would you give up for it?” Anna’s response, “Anything,” certainly seems to please Siobhan, who’s also shown slapping Anna across the face after she dares to suggest that she should suspend her Oscar campaign. How to watch and stream AHS: Delicate Part 2

The first five episodes of the season aired weekly on FX on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and were then made available to stream the following day on Hulu. Part 2 will follow the same release model, beginning with the premiere on April 3.
