Watch Luke Bryan Chop Onions, Hilariously Answer Questions, and Try Not to Cry
If you’ve ever wondered how many onions Luke Bryan can chop in 10 minutes, the answer is approximately five onions. He took on the task for Delish’s Chopping Block series, in which he also answered fans’ burning questions and tried his best not to cry. (Spoiler alert: he cried.)
The onions at stake appeared to be sweet vidalias, which, if we’re being honest, are the mildest offenders. Still, compared to his predecessors, he finished at mid-rank, Tyra Banks owning the number one slot at nine bulbs (are we surprised?) and Kristen Bell in second with six.
While showing off his knife skills—which he’s been using a lot during quarantine, he said—Bryan covered a variety of topics, from how many pairs of cowboy boots he owns (“upwards of 30 or more”) to what’s always in his refrigerator: hazelnut flavored Coffee Mate creamer and yogurt, “for the ‘ole… system.”
Of course, Bryan also discussed his latest album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, which released on August 7 and features multiple No. 1 tracks, including a summertime favorite, “One Margarita.” Like many performing country artists, including Rascal Flatts, Garth Brooks, and Tim McGraw, Bryan cancelled his 2020 tour dates “out of an abundance of caution” in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. So, he’s really looking forward to hitting the road again in 2021.
“I’m most excited about watching the fans sing ‘One Margarita,’” he said, lifting a mangled onion high. “I have never even gotten to perform ‘One Margarita’ for my fans at all.” But, he added, because the song repeatedly chants, “One margarita, two margarita, three margarita, shot,” everyone now wants to send him that exact drink order. “Yes, people are trying to assassinate me with liquor,” he chuckled.
Thankfully, he’s survived the courtesy so far. But that’s kinda what he gets for releasing a drinking anthem, right? And it’s not even the only one on his album. “Two of the three [number one hits]… are kind of party songs,” Bryan told Entertainment Tonight. “So I'm learning, in my after years in the business, that people like when I sing party songs."
And, when he chops onions. As the singer finished his 10-minute chop, he scooped up his yield and smirked.“You can buy these online,” he said.
