Miley Cyrus returned to Studio 8H last night to be the musical guest on SNL. Following the release of her new single "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart"-which dropped the same day as Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" video-Cyrus performed her new track and bonus (!!!), gave a soulful rendition of John Lennon's Christmas classic, "War Is Over (Happy Xmas)" alongside Mark Ronson and Sean Ono Lennon.

Forgoing the SNL tradition of the host (last night, Matt Damon) introducing the evening's musical guest, Cyrus was instead introduced by Pete Davidson, who posted some distressing and seemingly suicidal messages on Instagram yesterday. Just hours before the show, Davidson posted that he doesn't "want to be on this Earth anymore," which lead to a "wellness check" from NYPD and an attempted visit from Ariana Grande.

The New York Times reported that Davidson was "accounted for" following the posts, but his quick appearance on SNL was the first fans had seen or heard from Davidson, who has since deleted his entire Instagram account.
