Watch Native Philadelphian Bradley Cooper Sling Cheesesteaks Out of a Food Truck
Bradley Cooper may live the privileged life of an A-list Hollywood actor, but this week the Philadelphia native got his hands dirty slinging cheesesteaks out of a food truck. Stars, they're just like us!
It's unclear whether Cooper got elbow deep into some boneless ribeye to promote a project or a cause (it seems an unlikely Maestro tie-in), as the video was posted to Instagram by the beloved South Philly institution Angelo's Pizzeria on Wednesday afternoon. However, the video itself was shot in Manhattan, as Angelo's seems to be plugging a new business called Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks, directing users to follow the new account.
"Afternoon bread heads, come on down and get a cheesesteak," Cooper says in the short clip.
When the guy filming—with a thick Philly accent, natch—asked a passerby to note where the truck was located, it was confirmed that they were parked at Sixth Avenue and West Third Streets. "Danny & Coop’s, here we go. He's a natural," he exclaimed, ostensibly referring to Cooper's steak-slinging skills.
It seems unlikely that the 48-year-old is getting into the food truck business, based on the similarity of the steak biz's name, or if the owner was simply pulling a favor. As most locals are aware, Cooper was born just outside of Philadelphia, and grew up in nearby Jenkintown.
But while he may not have lived in Philly for quite some time, Cooper still bleeds green for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. During a recent appearance on the Howard Stern Show, Cooper was asked whether he would choose an Eagles Super Bowl victory or cleaning up at the Oscars for Maestro.
“Here’s the big question, and I really want you to answer in a serious manner," Stern started off. “Sophie’s Choice for 2024. You win the Oscar, not only for Best Director but also for Best Actor and Carrie wins Best Actress. Or, an Eagles Super Bowl victory."
Without so much as a moment of pause, Cooper chose the Super Bowl win. "You’re lying," Stern fired back, to which Cooper countered: "I don’t think so, bro."
Suffice it to say, after witnessing his cheesesteak prowess firsthand, we believe him.
