Watch: Opening Day at Skeleton Bay With Nathan Florence and Kai Lenny

"50 hours of travel, all middle seats, with no upgrades."

That's how Nate Florence's Namibia trip began. If you're wondering why a pro surfer with a million miles would ever have to rough it on an airplane, well, that's just what happens when you book a flight halfway around the world two hours before departure.

That's right. Two hours.

Florence isn't scared to pull the trigger. It's the reason why he's always in the right spot at exactly the right time in every corner of the globe. This strike to Skeleton Bay is no different.

Alongside Kai Lenny and Kohl Christensen, Florence arrives to Namibia just in time for the first flexing swell of the 2024 season. As you'll see, the three of them jump off the jet and straight into an all-day session. And while it was pumping, it was far from easy. Foggy, ripped out and with a river running through the lineup, Skeleton really made them work for every tube. Imagine flying for 50 hours, in a middle seat, with little to no sleep, and then paddling straight into a 10-hour paddle, surf — and in the case of Lenny — kite surf marathon. Literally.

When the day is all said and done, Florence covered 26.3 miles paddling, surfing and walking back up the point, averaging 3.3 miles every hour, and burning over 3,000 calories.

Yep, Florence is built different. But you already knew that.

Click play to relive a day that very few surfers in the world are capable of pulling off.
