Watch: Pipeline Wipeout Hospitalizes Tahitian Surfer Eimeo Czermak

During a heat at the 2023 Vans Pipe Masters, Tahitian surfer Eimeo Czermak wiped out on a seemingly harmless wave. At least, harmless for Pipeline.

Czermak took off, immediately pulled the eject cord, and went over the falls on an eight-to-10-foot wave. Nothing too crazy. Happens all the time at this wave.

But it wasn’t your average wipeout; Czermak was hurt...bad. He got a ride from the jetski to shore and got checked out by medical staff. But that was just the start.

After being examined, Czermak was transferred to the hospital, pulled out of the contest, and currently, he's trudging down a road to recovery. Scary stuff. A few days later, he took to Instagram to give an update:

“Hey everyone, first of all I want to say a huge thanks to @vanssurfevents and everyone who reached out to me when I wasn’t ok.

“This was probably one of the hardest and scariest moment of my life.

“In the second slide there’s a little video of what happened and the crazy part is I don’t even remember anything of this…??

“I don’t know if I can even talk about what happened after I left the contest so I’m gonna keep it to myself but I’m so happy and grateful to be alive and looking forward to heal.

“I am really disappointed in myself for what I’ve showed in this contest, it’s really hard for me to accept but it is what it is and at the end of the day I came so close from losing everything but I’m alive and gonna be able to walk again hopefully soon so that’s what matter.

“The next few days are gonna be really hard for me so I think I’m gonna take a break from social media and work on my health.

“Looking forward to get another chance to express myself… thank you everyone good bless??”

Heal up, Eimeo.
