The 2 Percent Crew is on fire.

Led by Kolohe Andino, San Clemente surfers Cole Houshmand, Kade Matson, and Jett Schilling are having their best years yet on the Challenger Series, with all three currently holding down qualification spots. Crosby Colapinto is also knocking on the door, while Sawyer Lindblad is a result away from making the jump on the women's side.

That's a lot of success from one small town.

So, what changed this year for San Clemente?

Team 2% was born, for starters.

As you'll see in the edit above, shot during the CS stop in Ballito, the 2% Crew is turning up for one other. From traveling together, to staying after a loss to root one another on, Team 2% has shifted competitive surfing from an individualistic, selfish pursuit, into a more team-centric, supportive thing, wherein friends are there for each other during a grueling Challenger Series campaign.

Obviously, it's working. The 2% Surf crew is currently holding down 30% of the Challenger Series qualification spots, which is a crazy number, considering how many talented surfers are on that tour from all around the world.

Whoever said surfing isn't a team sport?
