Watch This Woman Do Her Makeup While Riding a Motorcycle Sidecar
A lot of today’s popular beauty vloggers have beautiful backdrops and unique settings, whether indoor or out, while they demonstrate how they pull their gorgeous makeup looks together. Usually they sit stationary while doing it.
And then you have Anne Rhycie Kate Custodio, who just completely changed the game by doing her face while riding on the back of an open-air auto rickshaw, also known as a motorcycle sidecar or “tricycle,” in her native Philippines. (Spoiler alert: The results were quite fabulous.)
During Custodio’s six-minute clip, shared on Facebook by Range Advertising — part of the University of the Philippines Visayas, where Custodio was a media studies student — she rides through a city with her hair in curlers, applying makeup as the wind whips her face. She eventually lets loose her voluminous curls and manages to never come close to falling off the moving vehicle.
Custodio begins her video with a massive hair flip and then proceeds to apply her complexion products — but not before using a big block of ice to close up her pores and prepare her skin. For the makeup-application portion of the video, which takes several minutes, she mysteriously produces product after product, from brands including NARS, Mary Kay, and Sephora.
A catchy song by Little Mix called “Touch” plays in the background — until a particularly amusing moment at 0:48, when Custodio is smacked in the face with a palm leaf and the song briefly switches to Lea Salonga’s “Tell Me,” with the lyric “Where did I go wrong?”
At the end, after flaunting her finished look for the camera, she gets off the rickshaw and is approached by a young man who recognizes her as the beauty-tutorial girl, telling her playfully, in Tagalog, that she needs “more highlights.”
The video has been viewed over 2 million times and shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook, with numbers growing by the hour thanks to media attention from outlets including CNN Philippines.
And it’s not even the first time the makeup guru has turned out a flawless look on a moving vehicle. Another recent tutorial has her applying makeup while riding on a larger version of an open-air public transit vehicle, called a jeepney, prompting confused reactions from her fellow passengers.
Perhaps she’ll give us another unique tutorial soon? Until then, sit back and take note of her technique, as it just might help you improve on your own way of doing makeup while commuting. She clearly has it down to a science.
