Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations are finally here. The first event of the celebratory weekend is Trooping the Colour, where 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will parade through the city. Spectators started lining up last night, camping out on the Mall, hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal family.
The Queen's annual birthday parade takes place every year, but there's added significance this year as it kicks off her Platinum Jubilee—the first Platinum Jubilee celebrated by any British monarch. Today's parade will also end with the working members of the royal family appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony as they watch a flyby.
