When is the "Sweet Magnolias" season 2 release date?
Although Netflix confirmed that Sweet Magnolias is definitely returning for a second season, it's going to arrive later than planned. Shooting finally wrapped in mid-July, and season 2 will be released in 2022—more than a year after the show's initial release.
Is the original cast of "Sweet Magnolias" returning?
Netflix has not made an official announcement about who will return for Sweet Magnolias season 2, but it seems like everyone from the original cast is on board.
JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays Maddie, posted a sweet message about the Sweet Magnolias renewal on Instagram and promised that she will "be back with more stories to bring you hope, comfort, drama, and goodness."
Heather Headley, who stars as Helen, told the The Sun earlier this year that she "hopes the world allows us to have a season 2" so they can answer all of viewers' questions. Actor Chris Klein, who plays Bill, said the same.
"I do believe it was always [the producers'] goal to move this beyond the season 1," Chris said before Netflix announced the renewal. "And I, for one, really, really hope that we get that opportunity. Selfishly because I want to see what happens to Bill Townsend."

What will "Sweet Magnolias" season 2 be about?
Sweet Magnolias is based on an entire collection of books—11, to be exact—which means there's plenty of material for the writers to work with. Sherryl Woods, the author of the series, claims that the first season "draws a lot" from her first three books.
With that in mind, season 2 of Sweet Magnolias will probably be based on the next few novels. Fans can also assume that the upcoming episodes will address their most burning questions about everything that's happening in Serenity: What happened to Kyle? Will Maddie and Bill get back together? Does Dana Sue end up with Ronnie? Who are Isaac's birth parents? We need answers!
