Wayne Brady Comes Out as Pansexual

Wayne Brady is opening up about his sexuality and journey to discovering that he's pansexual.

The Whose Line Is It Anyway? star discussed this newly-unearthed part of him in a People feature published on Aug. 7.

He explained that the label pansexual best fit him because "pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place."

Brady–who forms a unique family with his daughter, Maile, 20, ex-wife Mandie Taketa, 47, and Taketa's partner, Jason Fordham–shared the news with Taketa first. She told People, “I just said, ‘Great.’ As I knew coming out would help him be happier."

Maile reacted nonchalantly, telling the publication, “I just said, ‘Okay.’"

Brady revealed that his introspective journey started because of ongoing loneliness in love.

He said, "I realized that I had a problem because if I can spend everything on stage and on camera but then I come home and there is a love deficit, what is going on? That was my rock bottom."

It took him a long time to really analyze his personal feelings. Brady shared, "I've also been attracted to certain men in my life, but I've always pushed that aside because of how I was raised, and because I live in today's world, and it's scary as s--t."

But the comedian also noted how he's always had many supportive people from the LGBTQ+ community around him, "I've always had that community, but I've always felt like a sham because I wasn't being forthcoming with myself."

Thankfully, Brady's now at a point where he's confident and assured about who he is and is proud to share it with the world.

Brady concluded, "I've got some work to do still. Then, Wayne as a single, open-minded pansexual can make a decision and be free and open to other people."
