What to wear for every type of Bank Holiday you may be having
The much-anticipated three day weekend is almost upon us. And hand-in-hand with the prospect of a Bank Holiday come the dilemmas of dressing for all the different scenarios you have plotted into your diary.
If you're in need of a dose of inspiration, then the Telegraph Fashion team is here to lend a helping hand. Here's what we'll be wearing for...
A weekend in the country
With weather starting to cool down, I can't go anywhere without my Uniqlo down jacket; it rolls up into practically nothing, and is perfect for a weekend in the country when the weather could turn at any moment. Simple jeans, a light trench for layering and leather trainers complete the look, just add a country pub and keep fingers crossed for sunshine. OP
Ultra light down jacket, £59.90, Uniqlo; Slim mom jeans, £19.99, H&M; Hooded trench coat, £79.99, Zara; Cashmere jumper, £300, Bella Freud; Veja trainers, £111, Matchesfashion.com; 18ct gold plated coin necklace, £139, Missoma X Lucy Williams
A London staycation
The bank holiday crept up on me this year and since I completely forgot it was happening, I haven't made any plans. I think I'll use my extra day off to explore London with my sister and visit my favourite place, The Natural History Museum. I'm slightly obsessed with day-appropriate nightwear, so these Asceno trousers are right up my street. I'll need comfy shoes and a lightweight jacket to throw on if it gets chilly. RB
Cropped shacket, £36, Topshop; Berry dot tailored trousers, £245, Asceno; Spike hoops, £99, Phine; 'Paul's letter' t-shirt, £55, Paul Smith; Converse leather high tops, £64.99, Office
A garden party
I'm celebrating a friend's birthday in her garden (weather permitting) but as she lives in town, it's BYO flower garden, hence this Ghost skirt. I'll dress it down with a striped tee and these wear-everywhere sandals from Dune. Not pictured: the magnum of rose... CGE
Satin skirt, £95,Ghost; Breton, £57.50, Petit Bateau; Sandals, £80, Dune London; Straw bag, £29.99, Zara; Sunetra sunglasses, £180, Zan Zan
A day on a British beach
This weekend I'll be sunning myself (hopefully) on the beautiful beaches of Devon's coast (lovely) with my boyfriend's colleagues (scary). Usually I'd throw on a hoodie and a pair of old shorts but this weekend I'll try look more sophisticated.
A floral mini summer dress and plimsole combo works well for all of our activities, from beach to pub, and this drawstring coat will look great tied around my waist and, should the heavens open, be quite useful too. HE
Silky dress, £25, Monki; Drawstring coat, £225, Hunter; Flatforms, £62, Superga; Cross-body bag, £26, Warehouse; Bow scrunchie, £3.50, Accessorize
A fun weekend in Ibiza
I'm jetting off to Ibiza this weekend, where I'll (hopefully) be greeted by temperatures north of 30 degrees celsius and sunshine. Hooray! I'm a sucker for summery accessories, so will be taking as many headbands (which also protect a scalp susceptible to sunburn), pairs of sunglasses and big earrings as I can fit in my overweight case. OBS
House of Lafayette headband, £83, Matchesfashion.com; Sun earrings, £120, Soru Jewellery; Solid and Striped top, £80, and bottoms, £80,Matchesfashion.com; Square basket bag, £80, Zwina Habibi; Faithfull the Brand linen jumpsuit, £145, Net-a-Porter
A dinner with friends
I'm being optimistic, so am hoping to wear this gorgeous silk slip dress with bare arms and sandals when I go out for dinner with friends on Saturday night. The reality? I'll obviously have a jumper to hand to throw over the top when it's inevitably freezing. CL
Cashmere sweater, £250, Marks & Spencer; Joseph silk satin dress, £395, Net-a-Porter; Leah jewelled flats, £98, Boden; Silver cocktail earrings, £275, Monica Vinader
