We've seen Kate Middleton step out in glamorous gowns, sailor pants, and a bunch of striped shirts, but when we spotted the sleek black suit she wore for a recent appearance? Our first reaction was "whoa." Not only was the look perfectly tailored and Meghan-Markle-esque (remember that Smart Works collection?), it also included a very '80s trend: a strong-shouldered blazer.

The duchess decided to bring back this throwback style while filming at London's Natural History Museum, where she revealed she would be announcing the winner for this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. The event, which is being promoted through the hashtag #WPY56, will happen via live stream on Tuesday and can be viewed on the museum's YouTube and Facebook page.

It sure seems like Kate is on board with the '80s fashion comeback. Way back in April, she even popped up wearing a ruffled statement collar, reminding us of a dress that Princess Diana wore in 1981. Big shoulders are a style we tend to associate with that decade, and while Kate's blazer is a slightly subtle version of the trend, it still spiced up her all-black outfit and convinced us to invest in one of our own.

Of course, Kate's Alexander McQueen design (Shop Similar: $3,090; matchesfashion.com) will end up setting you back a few thousand dollars, but Express sells its own version ($71; express.com) that's a bit more budget-friendly.
