Wendy Williams Cancels Appearance Last Minute Amid Health Concerns

Wendy Williams recently pulled out of an event she was set to appear at due to her ongoing health battle.

The former talk show host reportedly was to be paid $25,000 for her speaking engagement at the Atlanta Women’s Expo, which is set to take place this weekend between Saturday and Sunday, according to the US Sun.

“There is a video from Wendy that will be played Saturday—apologizing for the late cancellation,” a rep for the expo told the outlet in a statement.

An additional source allegedly told the publication there had “been questions about if Wendy was well enough” to make the appearance at the event, adding that there “was pushing by some to get her to Atlanta and to put her on that stage.”

Alas, the longtime media personality will be sitting this one out, as the source continued: “Wendy’s ability to perform has been rocky at best. She can put together a sentence one day but not the next,” further adding, “There have been serious questions recently about if she will ever get better.”

Williams’ rep, along with a rep for the expo, confirmed to Page Six on Friday that the 58-year-old would not be attending, although they did not provide any specific details or insight regarding the cancellation.

“We regretfully have to inform you that Wendy Williams would not be appearing at The Ultimate Women’s Expo in Atlanta on May 20th, 2023. It was with great consideration that we felt it was best for Wendy to join the Ultimate Women’s Expo at a later date," the statement informed.

The communication continued: "We look forward to releasing those details when they are confirmed. We are grateful to the Grammy award-winning R&B artist, Monica, for being a great addition as the Keynote speaker in Wendy’s absence. Can’t wait to see you soon!”

It was announced last year that The Wendy Williams Show would be ending after 13 seasons, with the host venturing into the production of a podcast following the news. However, Williams has dealt with a rocky health battle, which has seemingly stalled the forward-movement of several of her current projects in the works.

In addition to Graves' disease, the former radio DJ also struggles with lymphedema, hyperthyroidism, and other physical ailments, as well as having gone through multiple bouts with substance abuse, which she has entered rehab and wellness centers for in the past.
