When Wendy Williams received the 2,677th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles last Thursday, her 19-year old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was right by her side.

To commemorate the special event — which radio host Elvis Duran and CEO of Fox Television Stations Jack Abernethy attended — Wendy shared a photo on Instagram of herself giving her smiling son a kiss on the cheek. "My son shine! ????????????," she captioned the pic.

“He [Kevin Hunter Jr.]’s always encouraged me to keep it going,” Wendy said to People at the ceremony. “And never asks me to pull back from anything that I say or that I wear or anything like that. He’s always been very encouraging.” Wendy welcomed Kevin Jr. into the world with her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, on August 18, 2000.

While acknowledging how tumultuous the past year has been for her (including a divorce and living in a sober house), Wendy seemed positive and hopeful about the days to come.

"The elephant in the room is that I've been having a very, very tough year but, slowly but surely, I'm climbing out of the pit and this is one of those monumental days that makes me say, you know, if you don't believe in yourself who will believe in you?" she shared with the audience, according to E! News. "Sometimes life is a very lonely path and you've got to make some hard decisions."

After the ceremony, Wendy took a moment to talk with Entertainment Tonight about her only child.

"My son is here with me ... he's only known me as Mom with the microphone, and then Mom in the headlines, and Mom saying out-of-order stuff," Wendy said. "So, this star means everything. Because now he's got something to look at and say, 'My mom did it.'"
