If You Were In A Fraternity Or Sorority In College, Tell Me Something People Would Be Surprised To Know About It

Regardless of why someone joins Greek life in college, everyone's experience being a part of a sorority or fraternity is different.
Often, Greek life can make headlines for being a toxic and problematic environment — but I'm sure there are other sides to it that people don't realize, especially if they never joined a sorority or fraternity (like myself).
On that note, I'm asking the BuzzFeed Community: If you were in a fraternity or sorority in college, what would people be surprised to know about it?
Maybe despite what people might assume, not every fraternity actually hazes newcomers.
Perhaps you and your sorority sisters had some of the highest GPAs on campus — and the connections you made with them in college directly set you up for career success after graduating.
Maybe being a fraternity brother or sorority sister helped shape you into the person you are today by teaching you the importance of respect and personal values.
On the other hand, maybe you have deep regrets about the whole thing. Maybe you realized a semester in that the financial commitment wasn't worth it at best, or predatory at worst.
Or maybe you had such a negative experience — with hazing, cliques, racism or sexism, or anything else — that you actually now speak out whenever you can, so that others don't follow suit.
