A popular luncheon stop outside of Save and Serve every Monday in Millersburg, Holy Lederhosen! began serving its special burgers and bratwurst in June, and things have been going well.

Sean and Heather Allen are the owners of Holy Lederhosen! food truck. Heather's mother, Diane Dye, provides fresh bakery treats. The truck also has its own beer cheese with Hefeweizen from JAFB in Wooster, Sean Allen said.

"We are a food truck that specializes in German-American food," Sean Allen said. "We have burgers, bratwurst and bratwurst burgers. All of our meat is locally made and processed from Wayne, Holmes and Ashland counties. Nothing is premade or frozen.

"We make all of our sauces bits from scratch," he added. "We also make our own beer cheese with Hefeweizen from JAFB in Wooster."

Allen said Holy Lederhosen! has the capability to make more than 20 bratwurst, depending on the season and what type of venue they are providing for.

The truck features custom burgers, such as the Reuben burger Allen developed with a special homemade reuben seasoning, and sauerkraut made with Holmes County Swiss cheese. That is one of the more popular burgers.

Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese and sauerkraut balls also are offered.

Sweet treats from Sweet Glory Home Baked Shop

Another special treat are the homemade desserts crafted by his mother-in-law, Diane Dye, who operates Sweet Glory Home Baked Shop out of her home in Fredericksburg.

"Homemade Dutch babies made with Bavarian cream, fresh fruit and whipped cream and German apple cake, are all made from scratch and pretty popular," Allen said.

"She makes all of our baked goods," Heather Allen added.

The Allens bring plenty of experience in the restaurant industry from working in the kitchen to managing the operations.

"We decided it was time to do something for ourselves," Sean Allen said. "We take our truck anywhere. We are in Millersburg (at Save and Serve) every Monday, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will be at JAFB a couple times coming up in the fall in September and October. We will be at Oktoberfest at Wolf Creek Mill in Loudonville on Saturday, Oct. 28, along with a couple other drive-in events."
