'Wheel of Fortune' Contestant's Impressive Guess Leaves Pat Sajak Stunned
A contestant on last night's Wheel of Fortune episode left Pat Sajak speechless, and this time, it wasn't over a gaffe.
Angelisa Cintron, a dental hygienist from Topeka, Kansas, left Sajak stunned in round four of the Tuesday, Sept. 26, game show after she very quickly buzzed in with the answer during the Triple Toss Up Round, where letters randomly reveal themselves on the board one at a time.
The category was “Food and Drink,” and the puzzle board read: “_ _ _ A _ _ _ _N _ _ _ _ _ _ _.”
Cintron chimed in after only two letters appeared, correctly guessing the answer: "Himalayan Sea Salt."
"How the heck did you do that?" a flustered Sajak could be heard asking off-screen.
"I love salt," Cintron said with a laugh.
"'I love salt' is not a sufficient answer," the 76-year-old media personality teased, shaking his head in disbelief before moving on to the next puzzle.
Despite her impressive guess, Cintron, unfortunately, did not make it to the bonus round. Instead, Tameka Stephens–a mom of two and a “couponer” from Chesterfield, Virginia–earned the opportunity to solve the bonus puzzle.
After choosing the category “Phrase,” Stephens was left to fill in the blanks on the board, which read: “O _ ERD _ E FOR _ N _ _ GR _ DE”. She correctly guessed, “Overdue for an upgrade,” scoring an extra $40,000 on top of her earlier winnings and ultimately walking away with a total of $61,000.
Wheel of Fortune airs weekdays on ABC and this current season is set to be Sajak's last as host, with Ryan Seacrest slated to take over the role sometime next year.
