Downtown Fort Pierce is full of art, history and period architecture — including seven buildings on the National Register of Historic Places — that give it a one-of-a-kind Florida charm. There are bars, restaurants, The Sunrise Theatre and activities and entertainment both downtown and in the waterfront Marina Square. Don't miss the:

  • Art Walk: 5-8 p.m. every third Friday

  • Green market: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Wednesday

  • Farmers market: 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday

  • Friday Fest: 5:30-9 p.m. every first Friday

These restaurants are downtown, from A.E. Backus Avenue to Citrus Avenue and from U.S. 1 to Indian River Drive, excluding those east of the drive, which will be featured in an upcoming roundup of marina/waterfront restaurants.

Fort Pierce residents (from left) Amber Sweatt, Aaron Crosby, and Brittney Burkett keep watch on Burkett's son Seth Ryan, 2, after finishing a meal outside of the Pickled Restaurant and Bar on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, in downtown Fort Pierce. "When we moved here ten years ago downtown Fort Pierce didn't look like this," Crosby said. "They've done a lot of work over the last ten years, taking Fort Pierce downtown to where it's at now." While downtown Fort Pierce has improved over the years, Fort Pierce's Census rating dropped one percentage point since 2010.
