Whatever opinions you may have about the imminent Sex and the City reboot on HBO (also known as And Just Like That), whether it's that you're so excited you have already begun organizing a premiere party, or that you just can't fathom a SATC universe without Kim Cattrall (who masterfully turned spicy, promiscuous Samantha Jones into a cultural icon), it'll be hard to resist tuning in, at least to see what they're all wearing.
Twenty-three years ago, when the original series first premiered, it was as groundbreaking for its raw, razor sharp, and unfiltered portrayal of life as a 30-something single woman in Manhattan as it was for its fashion. In the hands of costume designer Patricia Field, this was the show that singlehandedly cemented the Fendi Baguette's status as society's first It bag and forever set the bar stratospherically high for onscreen style.
For better or worse, Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte (or Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, respectively) are back for round two (or four, if you count the two films). While Field is not involved with this revival—she is busy with the sophomore season of Emily in Paris—her protégé Molly Rogers has taken over the wardrobe direction. Paparazzi photos of the cast filming around New York City this summer and fall may have inspired a few burning plot-related questions—Are Carrie and Big still together? Is she friends with Natasha now?—but there is no doubt about And Just Like That's sartorial influence. Shoppable proof, below.
