Streaming fans can't get enough of the newest addition to Netflix, The Watcher, especially since the limited series is inspired by the real-life story of the Broaddus family, who received haunting letters from an unknown stalker.

Starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as Nora and Dean Brannock, viewers are taken on a psychologically terrifying journey over the course of seven episodes. We see the couple and their children (Isabel Gravitt and Luke David Blumm) terrorized by an unknown figure who calls himself "The Watcher" after purchasing a $1.3 million house in Westfield, NJ, in 2014.

"The Watcher" sent frightening letters detailing personal information about the family, veiled threats and more, inevitably driving the family away from their newly renovated home before they even move into it. Now, eight years after the Broaddus family received their first letter and about three years after the house finally sold, fans of the hit Netflix mystery are asking the question on everyone's mind — what's happened since?

Where is the Broaddus family from The Watcher now?

According to People, Derek and Maria Broaddus, the couple Nora and Dean are based on, sold the six-bedroom Dutch colonial home at 657 Boulevard in 2019 for about $959,000.

The Cut reported that they sent a message to the new owners through their real-estate attorney that said, "We wish you nothing but the peace and quiet that we once dreamed of in this house." They also warned about the letters but the new owners have allegedly not received anything from "The Watcher" since moving in.

The couple did stay in the Westfield area, but they remain very private about their new address, even using an LLC to purchase their current residence.

As for the Netflix series, the couple sold the rights to their story but had little involvement with production. According to The Cut, they asked that their last name be changed in the show and that the family not resemble theirs. They also allegedly said they wouldn't mind "if the fictional house burned to the ground."

Local investigations have not figured out who "The Watcher" actually was. Since the investigation opened in 2015, there has been little to no new evidence or leads. This has led to work on the case to become stagnant — although at this point, it's clear that the Broadduses are focused on moving on. And just in case you were wondering, no, they won't be streaming the new Netflix show anytime soon.
