Where Y’at this Weekend: Coolinary, Gattuso’s Restaurant, Morgan City, Boomtown
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Thursday is bittersweet as we commemorate 19 years since Hurricane Katrina. But we also celebrate what New Orleans is today with the start of college football, Southern Decadence and more. Here are Where Y’at’s weekend picks!
First, COOLinary, the annual culinary tradition, continues through Sept. 15. Make reservations for brunches and dinners for $58 or less, and lunches at $28 or less at over 130 establishments including Shaya on Magazine Street: known for its freshly baked pita and innovative Israeli cuisine.
Next, it’s Gattuso’s Restaurant’s 24th birthday, and they’re celebrating with their Blue Quackarita cocktail. Visit and be a “lucky duck” for a chance to win prizes with every drink. Gattuso’s is a great spot to catch the LSU game, and features delicious wings, burgers and more.
In Morgan City, the 89th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival starts Thursday and runs through the weekend. This free festival features a parade, live music and a firework show. Other highlights include the blessing of the fleet and delicious Louisiana seafood.
Finally, Friday night Boomtown New Orleans will celebrate its 30th anniversary! Be ready to dance: the all-white affair features music by DJ Popps and Captain Charles and lasts late into the night. There’ll also be cash giveaways, including a $10,000 grand prize winner.
