Whitesville to hold annual fireworks display June 21
The city of Whitesville will hold its 16th annual fireworks display on Friday, June 21, at Whitesville City Park.
The event will begin Friday at 6 p.m. with entertainment, and will include music, children’s activities and a flag display before the fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Mayor Patsy Mayfield said the event has grown annually, drawing large crowds to the city park.
“Last year was the biggest crowd we’d ever seen,” Mayfield said.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a dance performance by Sammy J Studio, followed by live music. At 8:45 p.m., the Whitesville Fire Department and the Green River Firefighters Association will present the flag, which will be followed by the fireworks display, put on by licenses pyrotechnician Stuart Snow.
“He does it every year, and he does a great job,” Mayfield said.
The park will also host inflatable children’s activities that evening. There will also be numerous food booths operating during the event, Mayfield said.
The fireworks show is paid for through contributions from community businesses, Mayfield said.
“Everyone bring their lawn chairs, because it’s going to be a fun family event,” Mayfield said.
Parking will be handled by the Whitesville Lions Club.
“People will want to get there early, because it’s crowded,” Mayfield said.
