Whoa, ‘This Is Us’ Star Sterling K. Brown Casually Made History with His Golden Globes Win

Here’s some cool news: Sterling K. Brown’s 2018 Golden Globes win is more than just a trophy. By taking home the award for Best Actor in a Drama Television Series, the This Is Us star officially made history, becoming the first African-American actor to ever win in that category.

Brown thanked Dan Fogelman, creator of the hit NBC dramedy, for developing his character, saying, “You wrote a role for a black man that could only be played by a black man. And so, what I appreciate so much about this is that I’m being seen for who I am, and being appreciated for who I am. And it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anybody who looks like me. So thank you, Dan.”
