Whoopi Goldberg Slams 'View' Co-Hosts Over Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Discussion
Whoopi Goldberg doesn't seem to understand the ongoing fascination with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's rumored romance, and she's not afraid to say it.
The 67-year-old called out her The View co-hosts—Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro—as they kept talking about Swift's appearance at Kelce's football games during the Monday, Oct. 2 talk show episode.
As they all discussed Swift showing up to the Sunday, Oct. 1 Kansas City Chiefs football game, Goldberg, who noted that she has a "newfound interest in the NFL," questioned why it was "so extraordinary."
Navarro responded, “Because it’s Taylor Swift! The two games she’s showed up on, the Kansas City people have won. I wish she’d start dating a Dolphins player."

She then praised Swift, her career, and her influence, saying, "This is not my cup of tea but I’m very impressed with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé and what the two of them have achieved. Between the two of them, they’re having an economic impact of almost $10 billion on the global economy.”
Goldberg agreed with Navarro's point about the economy and Swift's impact, but she still didn't understand, saying, "But what about the football?" No one answered her, leading her to ask again.
Finally, Hostin directly addressed Goldberg's question, saying bluntly, "I think the reason no one’s answering your question is because we don’t really care about the football.”
“So here’s my response to that: then why did we pick this to talk about?” replied Goldberg, later saying, “I love Taylor. She’s great. I’m watching football whether she’s participating or not. I would never have brought this up.”
Some people felt similarly to Goldberg, with one person commenting on The View's post about the moment on X (formerly known as Twitter), "they showed [Swift] waaaaay too much at that game. it as a distraction to a really good game and took away from the players."
Another viewer wrote, "Even Taylor Swift couldn’t get the cast of #TheView interested in football ??."
Although Swift and Kelce have not officially confirmed whether or not they are romantically involved, the "Cardigan" singer attended both Kansas City Chiefs football games on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.
