Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Aren't at the 2019 Emmys
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds haven't done a red carpet together in months, and that won't change tonight. The beloved couple did not walk the carpet at this year's Emmy Awards tonight in Los Angeles. This isn't too, too surprising: neither Lively nor Reynolds are nominated. Both have done work in film in the last year (A Simple Favor and Detective Pikachu), and Lively is doing a fashion-focused TV series with Amazon. That series could get Emmys buzz in the future.
But more imminently, Lively is expecting her and Reynolds' third child. The actress announced her pregnancy in May, at the premiere of Detective Pikachu. A source told People after the news broke that the two are thrilled to be expanding their family. (They have two daughters already, James and Inez.) "They are so happy and excited about having another baby," the source said. "They really are the most in-love and in-tune couple, and very hands-on parents. They’d have a dozen kids if they could."
Reynolds shared some photos of Lively from her pregnancy for her birthday. "Happy Birthday, @blakelively," he wrote.

Lively's friend Gigi Hadid also shared a candid shot of Lively for her birthday. "It’s this Queen’s birthday week and I just want to say how grateful and lucky I am to have a friend like you, B," she wrote. "You are a real one and inspire me in so many ways. I will only be able to thank you enough by making you endless oatmeal griddle cakes and training your children to be world class disposable-camera photographers. I love you ! Wishing you every blessing. ?????? @blakelively"

But otherwise, the two have remained out of the public eye. Lively made headlines for making a reappearance on Instagram last week to publicly flirt with her husband and share her The Rhythm Section trailer, but she hasn't shared any new photos of herself.
Lively last attended the Emmys in 2009, so 10 years ago when she was on Gossip Girl. Reynolds, meanwhile, has never been to the Emmy Awards.
