Why Did Jed Tell Hannah the Real Reason He Joined the Show? ‘The Bachelorette’ Suitor Speaks Out

The second that Jed Wyatt told Hannah Brown he came on The Bachelorette to promote his music career, he immediately went down several notches on our list of top suitors. However, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter is finally opening up about his decision to come clean about his intentions, and we (sorta) see where he’s coming from.

Yesterday, Jed posted a self-explanatory photo on his Instagram Story in which he addressed the controversial moment from episode four.

He wrote, “Hannah said she wanted us to be open and honest, and I didn’t want to go another day without her knowing the truth. I knew some people would take it the wrong way but what mattered to me was being honest so we could focus on our relationship.”

Jed is referring to last week’s episode of The Bachelorette, when he dropped a major bombshell during his one-on-one date. “When I signed up for the show, I was so clueless,” he told Brown. “I was open to the idea because I love ‘love.’ But my first thought was, you know, ‘This is, like, a huge platform.’ And I just want you to know the truth.”

The songwriter then explained how his attitude has changed since that moment, adding, “So, I came in with that mindset. But every moment we’ve had has just kind of…taken all that away and showed me that, like, now—more than anything—I want to be with you.”

While our initial reaction was to send him packing, we applaud Jed for actually listening to what Brown said she’s looking for.

The Bachelorette returns to ABC tonight, June 11, at 8 p.m.
