Why Fans Think Taylor Swift Came for Kim Kardashian in New Song
Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian
Taylor Swift‘s newest album, a 31-track anthology titled The Tortured Poets Department, has shocked fans for numerous reasons, but Swifties just can’t seem to let go of the presumed meaning of the lyrics in the song “thanK you aIMee.”
In it, Swift sings about a “bronze spray-tanned statue” of a high school bully in her hometown whom she claimed her mother Andrea, a “saintly woman,” used to “[wish] were dead.”
As the song continues, Swift describes how she learned to heal from the pain caused by “Aimee” and the headlines this fictional character created. While the real-life subject that inspired Aimee may never be revealed, Swifties think they’ve come to the conclusion of who the person really is. None other than Kim Kardashian.
The 43-year-old reality star and 14-time Grammy winner have famously been at odds for years after Kardashian released an illegally recorded and edited phone call her then-husband Kanye West had with Swift that framed the singer as a liar and made her fear for the end of her career.
Which sort of rings true to the lyrics, “But I can't forget the way you made me heal / And it wasn't a fair fight, or a clean kill / Each time that Aimee stomped across my grave / And then she wrote headlines/ In the local paper, laughing at each baby step I'd take.”

As does the description of Aimee’s statue, which seemingly pokes fun at the SKIMS founder’s tanning habits. And who could forget Swift wrote a line that mentions her bully has young children, which West and Kardashian share four of, “And one day, your kid comes home singin’ a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”
But that’s not all. Many Swifties have pointed out online that the intentional capitalization of the song’s title holds a secret message–like Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy"–spells out “Kim.”
“taylor dropping a kim k diss track was not on my 2024 bingo card but i’ve never been happier,” one fan wrote via X (formerly Twitter).
“taylor said i do not forgive you kim kardashian,” another joked.
“possibly one of the most real lyrics from this album is taylor swift telling us her mom wanted to kill kim kardashian,” a third added. “the girlies know that when momma knows the tea that person can no longer return to our good graces.”
“a taylor swift song about kim kardashian….in 2024??? we are so back #tsTTPD,” another quipped.
