Kicking off his birthday month (a month early) and reflecting on his love life, Justin Bieber just graced the cover of Vogue along with his wife and "baby boo" Hailey Baldwin Bieber. Alongside photos of Hailey in a dress that looks like one she'd wear for their imminent wedding ceremony, Justin gets totally candid about why he chose to remain celibate for more than a year and while they dated.

In the interview, Justin described how, for a time, he used Xanax to help him forget about the shame he felt from being "super-promiscuous and stuff." He also said that before he and Hailey got back together in June 2018, he hadn't had sex for more than a year because he had "a legitimate problem." For Justin, abstaining from sex was a way to get closer to God and a way to avoid the "hurt people hurt people" cliché.

"He [the Lord] doesn't ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff," Justin clarified. "He's like, I'm trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don't feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that."

My wife is awesome

Justin also said Hailey was sort of like his prize for being celibate/ his "good behavior." He explained, "I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior." Some interesting thoughts right there.

Justin then admitted wanting to have sex again played into their speedy courthouse marriage, among other things. "When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life," he said. "I was like, Holy cow, this is what I've been looking for."

Well, if y'all are happy!
