Why Kate Middleton Secretly Took Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis Back to the Chelsea Flower Show
The Sun got details about a rare off-duty outing that Kate Middleton took her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis on Thursday morning. The four made a secret trip out back to the RHS Chelsea Flower show before it opened yesterday.
The royal kids had been there before to see the Duchess of Cambridge's Back to Nature garden, but that visit last Sunday was very high-profile, with photographers and cameramen capturing Charlotte, George, and Louis playing in the garden.
This time, it was low-key and happened in part because George really, really wanted to go back. The Sun's royal reporter Emily Andrews wrote on Twitter, "Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, took her three children to water her @The_RHS garden at Chelsea flower show early this morning before it opened. George was apparently v[ery] keen to go and she told an onlooker he, Charlotte & Louis were very excited to be back to water it!"
The Sun was told by a source that Kate, Louis, Charlotte, and George arrived around 7:15 a.m. and that the kids “wanted to get up early to water the garden."
Kensington Palace shared details about how the royal kids helped create the garden when it first unveiled the photos of Louis, Charlotte, and George playing in the garden.
On why Kate designed the Back to Nature garden the way she did, the Palace wrote, "Her Royal Highness is a strong advocate for the proven benefits the outdoors has on physical and mental health, and the positive impact that nature and the environment can have on childhood development in particular."
Then it broke down the royal kids' involvemennt: "Over the past months, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate @The_RHS Back to Nature Garden. Hazel sticks collected by the family were also used to make the garden’s den."
