Here’s Why Sandra Oh Doesn’t Want to Return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Sorry, Cristina Yang fans. Sandra Oh just revealed why she’ll never return to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, and it’s a doozy.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum, 47, recently attended the Hollywood premiere for Killing Eve season two, where she discussed the Shonda Rhimes series that launched her career. Although Oh left Grey’s Anatomy back in season ten, fans have been hoping for a cameo by the beloved character, which (spoiler!) isn’t going to happen.

In an interview with Extra, Oh not only confirmed that she hung up her scrubs for good, but she also revealed that Killing Eve is part of the reason.

“I just got to tell you, creatively you have moved on and while I know, and I deeply appreciate it, because I can feel it from the fans how much they love Cristina and that the show also still keeps Cristina alive, for me, [Killing Eve] is my home now,” she said. “This is where I am.”

Oh went on to say that she’s focusing her attention on a new character, Eve Polastri. “I am Eve and that’s where I plan to stay as long as the show will have me, and that’s really where I want to be,” she added.

Oh played Dr. Yang on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2014, for a total of ten seasons. Although her character was written out of the show—not killed off—it appears we’ll have to settle for Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) occasional phone calls with Cristina.

Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
