Why Travis Kelce's Ex Doesn't Think Taylor Swift Romance Is Genuine
One of Travis Kelce's ex-girlfriends isn't so sure about his intentions with Taylor Swift.
Maya Benberry, a woman who previously dated the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in 2016, recently issued a warning to Swift, 33, who is believed to have started up a romantic relationship with Kelce, 33, in recent weeks.
But after receiving some backlash on her comments about Kelce being a "cheater," Benberry is now clarifying her stance, sitting down in a new interview to explain why she believes her ex's relationship with the "Anti-Hero" singer doesn't seem totally genuine.
"The only reason that I questioned the genuineness of the relationship is because he's talking to the media a lot," said Benberry in a recent conversation with Inside Edition.
The 31-year-old life coach also described the football player as "a narcissist" during the interview, claiming, "Most narcissists don't change."
Benberry—who got together with Kelce after participating in his reality dating show Catching Kelce—said she dated the athlete for eight months and even thought she was going to marry him before it all went south.
"He met my parents. I had a key to his penthouse," she explained, before insisting that Kelce ended up cheating on her, which she learned about on social media.
When she initially spoke out about Kelce's new romance with Swift, Benberry said she "wouldn't be a girls' girl" if she didn't advise the "Bejeweled" songstress to "be smart."
"Only time will tell but like the saying always goes, once a cheater, always a cheater," she said at the time.
Since then, Benberry has claimed that she's been receiving death threats from Swifties for her comments about Kelce.
"Swifties are aggressive, very negative, very hypocritical," she told Inside Edition. "It's really crazy to me that someone that I think is you know, positive and really nice has such a negative and angry fan base."
She went on to clarify that she is "not jealous or bitter" about Swift, who she described as "beautiful" and "successful."
"My issue is more with Travis," she asserted.
Despite Benberry's poignant warning to Swift, the "Lavender Haze" singer is expected to show up at the Chief's game against the New York Jets this Sunday.
Neither Swift nor her team have confirmed the rumors of her attendance, so Swifties will have to tune into the game on Sunday to see for themselves if she shows up for Kelce again.
