So THIS Is Why Tyra Banks Isn't On 'America's Got Talent' Anymore
America's Got Talent season 14 premieres on May 28 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
Model Tyra Banks is no longer hosting AGT, and she was replaced by actor Terry Crews.
Different sources give different accounts for why Tyra left the show and what she's up to now.
Tyra Banks has been hosting America’s Got Talent for the past few years, so it might be a little jarring for fans (especially those who've been obsessed with her since America's Next Top Model) to learn that the show’s newest season is being hosted by someone who isn’t Tyra Banks. Instead, Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor and former NFL player Terry Crews got the gig. (ICYMI, he also hosted AGT's spinoff show, America's Got Talent: The Champions.)
And that's not the only cast change that's happening this season: dancer Julianne Hough and actress Gabrielle Union are joining Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel on the judges' panel.
But back to Tyra: She hasn’t publicly thrown shade or spilled tea about the show, so…what's going on here?
For starters, fans should know that Tyra hasn’t officially announced that she’s done with AGT for good. Still, it’s looking that way more and more, since Tyra has been super busy lately.
She just appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swim issue, and she’s currently promoting her new movie, Life-Size 2, which she also served as executive producer on, according to IMDB.

That’s kind of where she wants to spend her time lately, a source recently told Us Weekly. “Tyra’s leaving on her own volition and because she wants to produce and act more,” the source said. “She likes to produce and create.”
Another source told ET that it was a “network decision” for Tyra to leave, though. “The show does well because it has no problem adding new people and making changes," the source said. "Also, Heidi, Mel B., and Tyra have major projects coming up that they need to focus on. There was no drama."
Tyra also had this to say to Access Hollywood back in November, where she referred to her time on AGT in the past tense: “I think I had a really nice run with AGT. I had a lot, a lot of fun. ... I’m going to be producing TV and I have a massive project starting next year. I’m not so sure, but if I don’t come back, I had a lot of fun."
