Why Whoopi Goldberg Has Been Missing from 'The View' This Week

The View fans were left puzzled when Whoopi Goldberg didn't join the rest of the women onscreen for the Wednesday, Oct. 11 episode. But Joy Behar quickly clarified what was going on, telling viewers during the show why the EGOT winner wasn't present.
"As you can see, Whoopi is off today," announced Behar. The co-host teased, "She's off doing something really exciting. I can't tell you what it is. We want you to watch on Monday, when she'll tell you what it is. But trust me, it's a good one."
Goldberg's fans may remember that the 67-year-old is slated to reprise her character Deloris in Sister Act 3. She strongly hinted that her reason for being absent was due to something related to the film, as, on Oct. 12, she uploaded a photo of herself on her Instagram Story meeting Pope Francis in Vatican City.
She also shared various videos on her trip to Rome in her Instagram Story, which were then shared by the official The View Instagram account on its grid.
In one of the clips, Goldberg teased, "Maybe, since you're seeing everything, you're figuring out what I'm doing here, but picture Sister Act and all the nuns standing here, waiting for the Pope to come out. Maybe that’s going to happen in the new movie. You don't know. You never know, but we are in Rome, and I am in Vatican City. What could I be doing? Why could I be here? We’ll find out."
The View's social media page echoed Behar's comments, urging viewers to tune in next week to find out further details behind Goldberg's absence.
