Why Whoopi Goldberg Removes Herself From 'The View' Group Chat
Whoopi Goldberg on 'The View'
Whoopi Goldberg talks with her colleagues for a living, but during after-hours, she sees no reason to keep the convo going.
While talking about her group chat with fellow co-hosts on The View, who include Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sara Haines, the Sister Act star had no problem admitting she wants no part in it.
During their table discussion on a new episode of The View, the hosts discussed exclusive group chats between friends, which made Griffin wonder if she has been left out of any threads.
"There was one at one time," Hostin explained, noting that Griffin is now included—although Goldberg wishes she could permanently leave the group chat.
"Whoopi will gladly give you her spot," Navarro quipped, while Hostin claimed Goldberg "doesn't look at any of [their texts.]"
"I feel like Michael Corleone. Because I take myself off the group text... and then I'm BOOM, back! And I'm like, 'What the..." The Color Purple star quipped back, explaining she's too "busy" to keep up with all of the convos.
Navarro then brought up the ability to "silence" group chats to prevent them from blowing up your phone, but to Goldberg, it's all the same—and she's just not into it.
"I don’t care! I don’t care what you're upset about," Goldberg lightheartedly exclaimed. "It's the weekend!"
"If I need to talk to you, I talk to you," Whoopi continued, noting that she prefers to "know who I'm texting" rather than talking in a group chat.
Stressing that she prefers to communicate only "when I have something to say," Goldberg added, "I don’t just be sending y’all stuff! I’m busy! I’m busy, you know."
"When I talk about those hit and runs, what do you think I’m doing?" she playfully joked at the end of the convo.
