The Wildest Dress at Cannes Redefines the Animal Print
From the front, former Harper’s Bazaar style editor Veronika Heilbrunner wore a basic yet totally appropriate dress for a night of premiere and party hopping during the Cannes Film Festival. At first glance, all you saw was a long white slipdress with spaghetti straps that hung from the model’s thin frame.
However, once she turned around, she revealed the wildest dress we’ve seen at Cannes this year — so far, at least.
The back was emblazoned with an ape — yep, you read that right. Well, actually, it’s an orangutan named Clyde. And the letters SSS were at the bottom of the skirt in red. The best part is that Clyde is giving the middle finger in the image.
The dress is actually from her longtime partner Justin O’Shea’s line, SSS World Corp, a luxury streetwear brand that plans to debut its menswear collection in Paris in June.

Heilbrunner — who is the cofounder of women’s lifestyle website Hey Woman! — seemed happy to wear the brand on the red carpet, probably since it just launched in April. She captioned an Instagram post of her in the dress, “#sssworldcorp doing the carpet????????”

It seems this isn’t the last time we’ll be seeing Clyde — according to SSS World Cup’s Instagram, he’s featured in its first campaign.
The rest of Heilbrunner’s outfit was equally wacky: She paired the dress with black booties, the heels of which were pearl-encrusted. She wore a beautiful — if oddly paired — jeweled necklace and barely noticeable mismatched earrings. We shouldn’t be surprised. She did once pair a white Chanel suit with Timberland boots.
