Willoughby Public Library hosting Tai Chi program for teens

Jun. 24—Sifu Gino Belfiore, head instructor at the Shaolin Kung Fu Institute in Willoughby Hills, will lead a Tai Chi program specifically designed for teens from 1 to 2 p.m. July 1 at the Willoughby Public Library, located at 30 Public Square.

Belfiore will demonstrate the Yang style of Tai Chi, characterized by slow, gentle, and flowing movements, give participants the opportunity to practice with an experienced instructor and gain understanding of how to perform movements correctly and safely, according to a news release.

"This style involves controlled breathing and meditation while exercising to promote relaxation and relieve stress," Belfiore stated in the release. "When followed regularly, the exercise routine strengthens the lower body, improves balance, improves circulation to muscles and organs, and is appropriate for teens of any fitness level."

This free program is open to teens, ages 12-18, and will be held outside on the lawn next to Willoughby Library, weather permitting. To register, visit we247.org or call 440-942-3200. Registration is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
