Who Will Win a 2019 Emmy Award? Here, Our Official Predictions

Now that the 2019 Emmy nominations have been announced, there’s only one thing on our mind: Who will take home a highly coveted statuette on September 22?

Here, all the celebs we think will walk away with an Emmy Award—including a few surprises.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Nominees: Barry, Fleabag, The Good Place, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Russian Doll, Schitt’s Creek and Veep

Predicted Winner: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Based on the complete list of nominees, we expect to see the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel take the winning spot. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that an underdog—like Fleabag, Russian Doll or Schitt’s Creek—is totally out of the running.

Outstanding Drama Series

Nominees: Better Call Saul, Bodyguard, Game of Thrones, Killing Eve, Ozark, Pose, Succession and This Is Us

Predicted Winner: Bodyguard

This is a majorly stacked category. However, since the eighth (and final) season of GoT received loads of backlash, we’re putting our money on Bodyguard, which may return for a second season.

Outstanding Limited Series

Nominees: Chernobyl, Escape at Dannemora, Fosse/Verdon, Sharp Objects and When They See Us

Predicted Winner: Chernobyl

This one’s a tough choice. But if we had to choose, we’d root for HBO’s Chernobyl, followed by When They See Us in a close second place.
After all, Chernobyl is the highest-rated show on IMDB.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Nominees: Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Don Cheadle (Black Monday), Ted Danson (The Good Place), Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method), Bill Hader (Barry) and Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek)

Predicted Winner: Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method)

As much as we’d love to see Ted Danson win this category, we expect Michael Douglas to walk away victorious, especially since he already won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Nominees: Christina Applegate (Dead to Me), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag)

Predicted Winner: Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)

When it comes to Lead Actress, we fully expect Rachel Brosnahan to walk away with back-to-back victories. (She won the same category during last year’s ceremony.)

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Nominees: Jason Bateman (Ozark), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Billy Porter (Pose) and Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us)

Predicted Winner: Jason Bateman (Ozark)

As much as we’d love to see Sterling K. Brown take home a “W,” all signs point to Jason Bateman as the front-runner. (Bateman was favored during last year’s ceremony, but the award was ultimately given to Matthew Rhys from The Americans.)

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Nominees: Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Laura Linney (Ozark), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) and Robin Wright (House of Cards)

Predicted Winner: Sandra Oh (Killing Eve)

For Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, we believe it will come down to the two stars of Killing Eve: Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. If we had to choose between the talented actresses, we’d pick Oh, who recently won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie

Nominees: Mahershala Ali (True Detective), Benicio Del Toro (Escape at Dannemora), Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal), Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us) and Sam Rockwell (Fosse/Verdon)

Predicted Winner: Jared Harris (Chernobyl)

Based on the public reaction, we’ll be the first to say that Jared Harris deserves recognition for his starring role.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie

Nominees: Amy Adams (Sharp Objects), Patricia Arquette (Sharp Objects), Aunjanue Ellis (When They See Us), Joey King (The Act), Niecy Nash (When They See Us) and Michelle Williams (Fosse/Verdon)

Predicted Winner: Joey King (The Act)

While this is anyone’s category, our money is on Joey King, who provided a bone-chilling reenactment of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
