Woman born without eyes or nose graduates college: 'I don't need easy, I just need possible.'
Although a young woman from Charlotte, NC, was born without eyes or a nose due to an "exceedingly rare" congenital disorder, it hasn't held her back in the slightest.
Cassidy Hooper ran on her high school's track team, worked as an usher at concerts, volunteered at charities, and took a bus alone, from Charlotte to Raleigh, to attend Governor Morehead School For the Blind every week.
On Thursday, Hooper graduated with a degree in Associates of Arts from Central Piedmont Community College, according to WBTV, a station that has been covering her story since she was 11 years old.
Hooper has lived by her motto, "I don't need easy, I just need possible,” throughout her childhood and teenage years and through a series of reconstructive surgeries.
And now, like any other college graduate, the now 22-year-old is amazed at how quickly her time at school passed.
"I got out there and I realized, wait a minute, this is actually happening?!" she told WBTV after walking across the stage at her graduation. "Am I dreaming or am I awake?! It just shocked me at how fast the time went!"
Now she’s on to her next journey. Hooper is interested in radio broadcasting as well as worship ministry, and plans to keep studying toward a Bachelor’s degree. This summer, she hopes to work at her high school in Raleigh.
Hooper did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
