This Woman Just Found Out She's Irish -- And She’s Changing Her Thanksgiving Menu Because Of It!
Thanksgiving is all about food and family, of course!
And just in time for the holiday, a viewer named Debbi from New Hampshire decided she wanted to explore her family history -- and we had to help!
We teamed up with 23andMe, an at-home DNA test -- and as it turns out, the results were far from what Debbi was expecting.
"I thought I knew everything about my family history," Debbi, whose entire family is from Quebec, admits. "But I was wrong."
When her results came in, she was most surprised to learn that she is 14% Irish!
"It was fascinating," Debbi says.
And while she is used to making traditional French Canadian dishes -- like tourtiere -- for the holidays, her DNA test results inspired her to broaden her culinary horizons!
"I think it might be fun to incorporate some Irish dishes into our Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays," she says.
So we invited Debbi to our show and recruited the help of Chef Stuart O’Keeffe, author of The Quick Six Fix, to teach her how to make two Irish dishes for her upcoming festivities!
