This woman looks so much like Mariah Carey, and she loves it
There’s no better compliment than being told you look like your favorite celebrity, and one woman is going the extra mile to make sure of it.
Kimberly Ortiz, a sales assistant in Las Vegas, has been told throughout her whole career that she looks like Mariah Carey. According to The Daily Mail, she’s so proud of their resemblance that she’s reworked her style and wardrobe. If you look like an A-lister, you might as well take style cues from her, and Ortiz has the same long, wavy brunette hair and big brown eyes as Carey.
“After I landed my first job as a sales assistant, I was complimented for looking like Mariah all the time,” she told Daily Mail. “But now it’s become an everyday thing — everywhere I go, I am constantly mistaken for Mariah.”
Ortiz even gets stopped for selfies and gawked at around town. “It’s the biggest compliment ever, because I’m such a massive fan of hers, so when I get stopped for photographs, it always blows my mind,” she says. Fans get to go home with a picture of “Mariah Carey,” and Ortiz gets to cosplay her idol.
She’s decided to lean in to the resemblance, adjusting her clothes to dress like Carey and “tailor” her look around her. She even sings the occasional Carey cover song, so it’s only appropriate that fans confuse her with the real diva. Ortiz is even copying her idol’s outfits: She dressed up as a sexy Mrs. Claus to celebrate Carey’s iconic holiday song “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” In the photo shoot, she poses with her head tilted back and hands on her waist, just like Carey.
Now that we’ve reached the holiday season, keep your eyes out for impostors. “Christmas is definitely one of the main times that I get mistook for her, because everyone has Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ tune in their head,” says Ortiz.
