Woman tells Wendy's drive-thru employees she was kidnapped, prompting police investigation
Police have launched an urgent search after an interaction at a Wendy's drive-thru alarmed employees. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, a woman in a car told the Wendy's store clerk that she had been kidnapped.
Two women in a green Honda pulled into a Wendy's drive-thru in Charlotte, North Carolina, just north of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, at 12:19 AM on Friday, the Charlotte Observer reported.
"Two females in a vehicle had ordered food in their drive-thru and that one of the occupants was asking for help and stated that she had been kidnapped," a press release from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police stated.
Concerned members of the restaurant's staff called police after the car drove off.
Investigators say that the possible victim is an African-American woman who is “approximately 40-60 years old with dark skin complexion,” the Charlotte Observer reported.
The suspected kidnapper was described as African American and "approximately 25-30 years old with light skin, and her hair was braided into a bun." She was also wearing glasses, had a nose ring and a flower tattoo on her shoulder. She was driving a green Honda, which police believe to be an Accord with a sunroof, back spoiler and temporary license plate.
Anyone with additional information is asked to call homicide detectives at 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle's requests for comment.
