The World’s Most Lavish Cruise Ship Suite Comes With a $200,000 Bed

From constantly testing the limits of size to introducing some of the most eye-popping amenities—robotic bartenders?—it seems cruise lines are in a never-ending competition to see who can wow passengers the most.

The latest surprise? A mega-luxury suite aboard the new Regent Seven Seas Splendor, scheduled to set sail on a 14-night cruise from Barcelona to Miami in 2020. Billed as the largest suite ever built on a luxury cruise ship, the one-of-a-kind accommodation includes 3,000-square-feet of interior space and a 1,300-square-foot wraparound veranda. (That’s 20 times larger than your average cruise ship stateroom—yup, only 20!) Perched on the 14th deck above the bridge, guests of the lavish Regent Suite enjoy captain’s-quality 270-degree ocean views over the ship’s bow.

While size is indeed an impressive stateroom luxury, it’s just one of many offered within the suite. In addition to a bedroom, living room, and expansive terrace, the space includes an in-suite spa retreat with a sauna, steam room, and treatment area; a glass-enclosed solarium showcasing the best views on the ship; and a custom hot tub on the balcony.

Décor, too, comes with its own no-expense-spared frills. Interiors are outfitted with exotic woods, handcrafted furnishings, Italian marble, and gilded accents. But the pièce de résistance, if you can pick just one, would have to be over-the-top Vividus bed, custom-made by Swedish brand H?stens for a modest $200,000. (It’s made with a pinewood frame and mattress composed of horsetail hair, cotton, and wool batting.)

How much does it cost to rest your head on nearly a quarter of a million dollars in the lavish Regent Suite? All-inclusive rates for double occupancy start at $11,000 per night and include first-class airfare, a personal guide in every port, and a personal butler while on the ship. And you might want to book now, as space in the suite is almost entirely sold out for the inaugural 2020 season.
