The World’s Shortest International Flight Lasts Only 8 Minutes
You can travel between countries in eight minutes on what could be the world’s shortest international flight.
In partnership with Venezuela, Aruba Airlines launched a flight last week that traverses the 50-mile distance between Aruba and Punto Fijo in eight minutes, according to Airways.
The flight is scheduled twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, offering passengers in Venezuela connections to Curacao, Bonaire, and Miami.
Prices for the short journey start at $215.

In January, Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro cut off all air and maritime access to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, saying that the neighboring island countries were taking resources from Venezuela and selling them on the black market. The blockade lasted three months.
Connections between Venezuela and the Caribbean remained restricted. Punto Fijo is one of three Venezuelan airports that operates flights to Aruba. Flights to Curacao and and Bonaire are only authorized to depart from the Caracas airport.
Last year, a Swiss airline cancelled an eight-minute flight between Germany and Switzerland that was previously regarded as the world’s shortest international service. The flight was cancelled because not enough people were booking it.
The shortest commercial flight in the world, Loganair’s service from Westray to Papa Westray in Scotland, lasts less than two minutes.
