Prince Charles Says He Lost His Senses of Taste and Smell During Coronavirus
Prince Charles revealed that he lost his senses of taste and smell while battling coronavirus.
Charles was diagnosed on March 25 and recently left home for the first time since isolation.
Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus back in March, and he just opened up about the illness. According to the Daily Mail, Charles paid a visit to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with his wife, Camilla, and told a health care worker that he lost his senses of taste and smell—and is still in the process of getting them back.
“He [Prince Charles] did speak of his personal experience, so firsthand experience for him,” health care assistant Jeff Wall told the Daily Mail. “He also spoke about his loss of smell and taste and, sort of, still felt he’s still got it now.”
Prince Charles’s initial diagnosis was revealed on March 25, when the palace released an official statement saying, “He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”
The palace also said, “It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
Prince Charles’s recent hospital visit marks his first time out of isolation in months. Apparently, he and Camilla spent half an hour meeting health care workers and practiced social distancing outside. Camilla also revealed that she’d seen her grandchildren for the first time recently, saying, “First time last weekend. Not hug them, but see them—a great treat.”
