'X-Men’ Reunite as Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds Bond at Soccer Match
Deadpool 3 co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reunited on the soccer field for a day of fun.
The two X-Men attended the opening day of League Two soccer for this year, with the men rooting for the Wrexham Association Football Club, which is owned by Reynolds and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney.
Reynolds, 46, posted photos of the two besties smiling with their arms around each other and laughing together at the game, captioning the post, "Epic opening day at @wrexham_afc. The @mkdonsfc played like heroes."
He went on, joking that Jackman, 54, got fired from a position at the club he made up, saying, "Big thanks to @thehughjackman for his first and last day as 'Admiral Vice Football Operations Ombudsman' because I just found out you made the fucking title up. ??????????????????."
The actor also tagged @stead.photos, the team's photographer, for some of the photos included in the post.
Jackman commented on Reynolds' post, "Human kindness is overflowing."
He also commemorated the visit to Wrexham A.F.C. on his own Instagram, posting similar photos with the caption, "FINALLY snagged an invite. Thanks Wrex!"
As always, fans loved seeing the two friends joke around and spend time together.
"Wow Deadpool and Wolverine watching soccer together! X…cellent! ??," wrote one fan.
Another said of Jackman's fake Wrexham position, "He’s just trying to be a part of the Team. ??."
Reynolds and Jackman, who play Deadpool and Wolverine in Marvel films, respectively, will be teaming up once again in their iconic roles for the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3.
The new movie had to stop production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, meaning it could end up delayed beyond its previously-announced release date of May 3, 2024, but it's unclear.
Previously, the two appeared in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine together in the same roles, although their characters have greatly evolved since then.
