Jun. 21—THOMASVILLE- Xylem Water Solutions and Water Technology, formerly known as Evoqua, has partnered with Keep Thomas County Beautiful to "adopt a spot" on Metcalf Road, with the help of 50 volunteer employees to keep the area clean.

Operation leaders Garrett Agee and Paulina Thompia have headed up the good cause for the area.

"This is a part of the Xylem culture," Thompia said. "Xylem loves the community and giving back. We look for ways to get involved and give back to Thomasville."

Agee further explained that this Adopt a Spot project is part of Xylem's larger watermark segment, which works to clean up waterways and look for volunteer opportunities surrounding access to clean water.

"It's part of the culture down from corporate leadership to local sites and it really drives the participation to be members of the community and participate in appropriate opportunities," he said.

Xylem has not just focused on the street they are located on, as the employees have also helped out the food banks, packing produce for those in need, and most recently volunteered at the Fountain of Life Homeless shelter, providing hygiene items for the women and children staying there.

"We take our hourly associates and they participate as well in being these great stewards of the community," Agee said.

Agee went on to say that the various projects drive a lot of excitement in the workplace, as the goal is always to be members and active participants in the community.

"It's not just about the jobs we provide," Agee said. "We want to be great stewards and showcase our culture."

Thompia and Agee's hope is that through their workplace culture, they can inspire other businesses and local groups to adopt a spot and keep Thomasville clean a little at a time.
